Being a stay at home wife isn’t all fun and games!

Being a stay at home wife is a FULL TIME JOB!

I hear it all the time from different people. Oh you’re lucky you don’t have to work. You get to stay home and play on the computer, watch your soap operas, play games and sleep in. I wish I could stay home and do nothing all day. Why do you stay home if you don’t have kids?

If you all only knew what comes along with being a stay at home wife you wouldn’t want to be me and you wouldn’t want to be a stay at home wife! Being a stay at home wife isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

Being a stay at home wife is not all it is cracked up to be

What do you think this is? A vacation?

Being a stay at home wife is not fun! It’s not spa and beach days. I am not out at the beach or at the spa getting my hair did! First and foremost you have no one to talk to. That in itself can drive you up the wall. There are so many things that I do during the day as a stay at home wife that I really am not sure how non-SAHWs take care of it.

Like what?

Keeping a clean and tidy home to sum it up a bit. Things like laundry, dishes, cleaning, dusting, washing, folding, drying, scrubbing and sweeping just to name a few. But that’s not even the most of it. Think about cooking, baking, meal planning, grocery shopping list, clipping coupons. I mean seriously you think all this stuff is fun? Really? Because I can almost guarantee that you will not like it staying home all day all by yourself. I would rather be out in the workforce getting paid for all the HARD WORK I do at home. Did I mention that I do it all for free. I don’t get paid money for this.

btw.. Did you enter my giveaway??

So Why Do it?

Full time job zero pay

I do it because it makes me happy. It makes me happy to see that smiling face on my husband. When he walks in the door to our clean and tidy home after his HARD DAY of WORK! And when we sit down for home cooked meals that I make and share our love with one another. Then sit and relax and spend the evening enjoying our happy lives together. That’s why I do it. I do it for the NOOKIE! Just kidding, just kidding! Any Limp Bizkit Fans in the crowd. Ok then!

Other reasons why I personally am a sahw.

I have multiple health issues, physical and mental, which makes everyday a struggle for me. It is hard for me to get dressed up and out into the workforce with the symptoms of my health ailments which include but are not limited to pain, anxiety, limited mobility, and depression. I will go into more detail in another post. So stay tuned if you are interested.

It sounds like you are doing a great job! Staying at home is hard work!

Staying at home is a lot of work! I stayed home last year – it was only this year I got a part-time job, so now I work 3 days a week.

    • It is a lot of work. I don’t understand how people in the workforce do it all!

I am a stay at home mom. It’s a 24 hour job. My benefits come in the form of slobbery kisses and small wins like my son successfully wearing underwear instead of training pants for a week. I used to work full time, but had summers off and was a stay at home wife. I caught up on housework, projects that I blew off all year. I stayed busy and I never got bored.

  • I often wonder what it would be like to be a stay at home mom (well, furbaby mom), and even though I feel like I would have more time to cook and clean and relax, I would probably just find more things to clean. 🙂 I think it’s good to find a work-life balance that works for you, so thanks for sharing your perspective! 🙂

I 100% admire stay-at-home moms and dads! It is an exhausting full-time job, indeed! I don’t have children, but when I watch my nephews all day or over-night, etc., I am exhausted and more and more in appreciation for stay-at-home parents. You rock!

I totally agree with this! I plan on being a SAHM once I have kids and I know its hard work. I e plenty of friends who would also agree <3
