Patchouli Plant
Source: Wikipedia

The patchouli plant is part of the mint family and native to the tropical regions of Asia. Growing about 2.5 feet in height it is a small bushy plant with small purple-white flowers. Patchouli oil helps ground and balance emotions and was widely used in the 60s by hippies to mask the smell of marijuana.

“When most people think of 1960s hippies, they stereotypically see a long-haired, patchouli-scented, shabbily garbed guy meditating cross-legged in a psychedelically painted room, a marijuana joint dangling from his lips and Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” blaring,” John Anthony Moretta The Hippies: A 1960s History.

Precautions

dilute essential oil before use

When using essential oils topically it is very important to dilute them correctly. Not diluting them can cause you or your loved ones ill reactions. Using oils “neat” or undiluted can cause problems to even the healthiest person you know. These volatile oils can cause respiratory problems, skin irritation as well as other problems if not properly diluted!
