It is national napping day! Did you get your nap on?
I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. I did for the most part. Spent most of the weekend home with Mike and Remy relaxing. We were able to tackle a few things around the house and out in the yard. But I have to say Sunday was hard. This whole daylight savings time thing always confuses me. Especially because I always seem to forget that one clock that I happen to look at ALL DAY. So almost all day I kept thinking I was on the right path but I was an hour behind the rest of my city! Gah!
Let’s talk about napping and why it is important for many people to take naps. Like me!
I suffer from a few different problems that cause my sleep cycle to be inconsistent. Besides being fatigued all day everyday it also causes my body to hurt because my body doesn’t get the rest that it needs to work properly. Naps help me to a certain extent but not 100% and not always.
With me it’s a cycle of the pain is keeping me awake but the lack of sleep is causing me pain! One of the many struggles of my life.
During my husband’s work week 75% of the time I am up before the alarm goes off @ 5:00 a.m., 5% of the time I do not get up and the other 20% I wake up when the alarm goes off or shortly afterwards. So normally I am ready for my nap by 7:00 a.m.. I nap usually for 1-3 hours depending on the sleep I got the night before.
Although naps definitely do not make up for inadequate/inconsistent sleep cycles that more than 80% of Americans suffer from, they do offer a small improvement on mood and sometimes will give you a fresh burst of short-lived energy! At least for me they do.
What happens when I don’t take a nap?
Do you really want to know? I’m warning you it’s not pretty! I turn into a raging “B” word from hell! I am quite often confused with the Tazmanian Devil.
That image about sums it up!
Anyways, I really hope you were able to cash in on the #NationalNappingDay free nap. And it helped you get your burst of energy! But you have to remember NAPPING isn’t always good. You have to nap at the right time and for the right amount of time in order for you to benefit from the nap and not have ill side effects like sleep inertia or night time sleep disturbances.
Did you take a nap today? Did it give you a welcoming burst of energy? Let me know in the comments below! Don’t forget to like and share. And subscribe if you dare!
Have a great day! 🙂
