How to prime a bamboo cutting board and why you should.
*I received this Clasier Organic Bamboo Cutting Board and wooden utensils at a discounted price in return for my honest opinion. Thanks for reading.
When buying a bamboo cutting board you shouldn’t just open the package and start using it. You need to prime it first.
Why should you prime a cutting board
When you prime your cutting board it seals the pores of the wood and protects it from drying out, splitting, and or cracking.
By not priming a wood cutting board you allow it to harbor bacteria, scratch easier, and absorb stains.
It really is as simple as the instructions say:
Rub with oil, leave for 12-20 minutes, wipe off.
That is exactly what I did.
How to prime
Pour oil on bamboo cutting board
Take a paper towel, or white lint free cloth and rub the oil into the board
Allow to dry for 12 to 20 minutes
Make sure to get the sides and inside the juice catcher groove.
This brand, Clasier really takes craftsmanship in their work. I love the juice catcher. I am always worried about run off and now I don’t have to worry about that.
After the first side dries, flip it over and do the same with the other side.
You should repeat this process every couple of months to keep your bamboo cutting board in great, clean, smooth condition.
Beeswax is a great alternative to oil.
