Clove Essential Oil ~ What can it do for you?

Clove Essential Oil..

What can it do for you?

Clove essential oil has been used medicinally for over 2,000 years. The oil has been used by the Greeks and Romans as well as in ancient chinese culture. It is known to have major benefits for oral care and used as an ingredient for toothpaste, mouthwash, and breath freshener.

Cloves originated in Indonesia and Madagascar. They are found in the flowers of the evergreen tree. The flowers contain a bud which is known as a clove aka Eugenia caryophyllata. The buds are picked off the flower and are completely dried. Once the buds are dry they are ground up into a powder and used as a cooking spice or to make essential oil.

Clove oil was used in an oil blend made as a protective aid against the bubonic plague. This oil is now commonly known as “Thieves Oil”. Thieves oil got its name because thieves used this oil blend, to stay protected and rob all the people infected with the plague!

How is clove essential oil made?

Ways I use Clove Essential Oil in my daily life:

The first memory I can recall of using clove essential oil was in my mid teens. I had to get my wisdom teeth extracted because they were impacted. One of the extraction sites formed a dry socket. OMG so painful. The dentist came my this brown gritty nasty looking/tasting/smelling stuff in this really large syringe (no needle) and I would have to fill the hole with that stuff daily.  Apparently clove oil was the main ingredient.

Now when I have a toothache, gum sensitivity, or any mouth pain, I immediately swish with a mixture of distilled water, baking soda, tea tree essential oil and clove essential oil and or soak a pieces of gauze in the mixture and apply to the affected area.

Another way I use clove essential oil is in the household disinfecting spray that I make.

As you can see Clove essential oil is awesome. Read on to find out more benefits and uses of this amazing oil.
