It is that time of year again!
Let’s get those Air Conditioner Filters cleaned and sanitized!
Hi my Viewtiful friends,
I hope everyone is awesome today! I sure am.
As I have mentioned, in previous posts, I live in South Florida. We have about one and a half seasons here! Let’s call the seasons in South Florida Air conditioner season and sweater season! What I am getting at, us Floridians run our air conditioner about 355 days out of the 365 days of the year. No joke! With that being said, South Florida’s “10 days of sweater season”, is over!
Do you smell that smell? Ooooh that smell!
Last weekend I decided to get my air conditioner filters ready, cleaned and sanitized! For a better smelling “Air Conditioner Season”! And, I am going to show you how I do it. Because really, who wants to smell last year’s funk!?!?
According to…. Air Conditioner filters should be cleaned or replaced every 3 months!
Items you will need:
- Air conditioner filter/s
- Large bin, sink, or tub
- Liquid soap (I use dawn)
- Tea Tree Essential Oil
Step 1: Mix ingredients in hot water
Fill bin, sink, or tub with hot water. Pour in one cup of Vinegar, 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap (dawn), and 20-30 drops of Tea Tree Essential oil.
Step 2: Clean and Sanitize the filters
Submerge the filters in the water solution and allow to soak for an hour or longer
Step 3: Rinse and Air Dry
After you have allowed your filters to soak, swish around in the solution, then rinse off the dust, dirt and grime (aka last year’s funk). Allow to air dry. Replace into air conditioner per manufacturer’s instructions after the filters are COMPLETELY DRY!
Using Vinegar and Tea Tree Essential Oil
Vinegar is a great disinfectant and deodorizer. It kills “gram-negative” bacteria, and cuts through grime and grease.
Tea Tree Essential Oil has antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal and antiseptic properties. What more could you ask for?
Together these two natural and amazing ingredients work wonders! Just as good as bleach and other toxic cleaners!
