5 Carrier Oils you should use for Essential Oil Dilution! And why?

Did you know that Essential oils need to be diluted before using?

When using essential oils topically it is very important to dilute them correctly. Not diluting them can cause you or your loved ones ill reactions. Using oils “neat” or undiluted can cause problems to even the healthiest person you know. Essential oils can cause respiratory problems, skin irritation as well as other problems if not properly diluted!

How to dilute Essential oils!

To dilute an essential oil you should add appropriate amount of drops to a carrier oil. I have made a calculator to help you find out the drop amount for your specific situation. All you do is enter the tsp amount of measure you want to make and the dilution % and my calculator will tell you how many drops of essential oils to use.

What is a carrier oil?

A carrier oil is a vegetarian based oil, also known as a base oil, like the ones listed below that have a neutral/sometimes mild smell. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils so you can safely apply the oils topically for therapeutic aromatherapy and massage. They also help the essential oils absorb into the skin more effectively because they do not evaporate as essential oils do. Basically they “carry” the oil into the skin. Hence the name carrier oils.

Carrier oils are either cold-pressed or macerated vegetable oil.

***Nut based carrier oils should be used with caution if you have peanut allergies. Although they do not contain the part of the nut that causes allergies it is still advised to avoid or use caution!***

Some people say that carrier oils have no “BENEFITS” therapeutic or otherwise but I have to disagree! Read below to find out why!

What do you say?

I guess if you consider the vitamins and moisturizers the carrier oils contain are not BENEFICIAL than I guess we will agree to disagree. I happen to think the boost of vitamins alone is a plus! On top of that, to have super hydrated and smooth skin just makes it even BETTER! What do you think? Comment below to let me know!
